Paneer Butter Masala is a popular vegetarian dish in Indian cuisine, made with cubes of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy tomato-based gravy. Here's a simple recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 4 medium-sized tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (adjust as per your taste)
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions:

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add paneer cubes and fry until light golden brown. Remove from the pan and keep it aside.

In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté chopped onions until they turn translucent.

Add minced garlic, grated ginger and chopped green chillies. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.

Add tomato puree, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chilli powder and kasuri methi. Mix well and cook for 8-10 minutes on medium heat until the tomato puree is cooked well and oil starts to separate from the masala.

Add fried paneer cubes and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add cream and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes on low heat.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.

Your delicious paneer butter masala is ready to be enjoyed!
